An area transient has been arrested after she allegedly assaulted the father of her child.
Police say the incident occurred sometime between midnight and 6:15 am on the 2100 block of Waterfront Drive Sunday. According to the arrest report, 38-year-old Ayla Marshek struck the victim approximately four times. She allegedly used a phone to strike the man on the head, and then used the bottom of a lighter to strike his head again. Marshek also reportedly struck the man in the head with her fists two other times.
The man suffered four gashes to his head as a result of the incident, and had to be transported via paramedics to the hospital for stitches to his wounds.
Police say Marshek and the victim have been in an intimate relationship for the past decade.
She was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to a year if convicted. A no-contact order was requested between the couple.
