Cedar Rapids Police say that despite media reports and video of the incident, they are looking for a hit-and-run driver who sent a motorcyclist to the hospital with several broken bones earlier this month.
The incident occurred on April 4th around 4pm near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 7th Street Southwest. Witnesses reportedly saw a red SUV run into the back of a 2003 Harley driven by 63-year-old Andrew Sorensen and then leave the scene without stopping.
No credible leads have been developed, and officials are asking the public to review the surveillance video they have of the accident on their Facebook page.
Citizens who can identify the driver of the SUV or the vehicle involved in this hit-and-run accident are encouraged to call Cedar Rapids Police at 286-5491 or Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME (272-7463) or text CRIMES (274637) and in the message/subject, type 5227 and your tip. You can continue to trade information with an investigator.
