Iowa City Police say a Wellman man tried to entice a minor for sex acts.
37-year-old Nelson Overholt of Circle Drive was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 7:15 Thursday night. Between last October and Thursday, Overholt allegedly had communications with a subject he believed to be a girl under the age of 16. Overholt allegedly stated he wanted to engage in sex acts with the girl. He also reportedly sent nude photos and photos of his genitalia to the other person.
Police say Overholt arrived at a pre-determined location Thursday morning with the intention of going to the girl’s house to engage in a sex act. Instead, waiting police arrested Overholt and charged him with Enticing a Minor and Telephone Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor. If convicted on both counts, Overholt faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
