Iowa City Police Department continues to investigate Dec. 30, 2024, shooting of Christine Blount

The Iowa City Police Department continues to ask members of the public to come forward with information on the Dec. 30, 2024, shooting of Christine Blount.

Police responded to a report of shots fired at 2:38 a.m., Dec. 30, 2024, in the 600 Block of South Dodge Street. Responding officers located Blount, 38, of Iowa City. Blount was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Blount died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head and ruled her manner of death a homicide.

ICPD investigators continue to follow up on all leads.

Investigators are asking anyone with video cameras to review their residential or vehicle footage from between the hours of 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Dec. 30. Anyone with potentially useful footage – or any other information related to the investigation – is asked to contact Iowa City Police Detective Ryan Wood at RWood@iowa-city.org or submit a tip anonymously using the Crime Stoppers information below.
