A Coralville man who police wanted to question about an incident was arrested after allegedly assaulting an officer.
Officers attempted to speak with 38-year-old Lattiney Lockett of Holiday Road just after 1am Tuesday after they located him on the 2200 block of 10th Street. He reportedly matched the description of a suspect in the same area of a previous incident. Police say Lockett ignored all commands to stop, pulled away from them when his arm was grabbed, and punched an officer in the face.
The officer suffered bleeding to his finger and left elbow after falling to the concrete.
Lockett allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes and slurred speech; he reportedly refused a PBT.
He was charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations causing Bodily Injury, Interference with Official Acts causing Bodily Injury, and Public Intoxication. If convicted on all counts, Lockett could be sentenced to over three years in prison.
Lockett is also required to register with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry every three months, and has missed recent appointments in July, October, January and April. He faces an additional five years if convicted on that charge.
