An area transient was taken into custody on two warrants stemming from separate incidents earlier this month.

Court records indicate 45-year-old Chadra Grey was at a residence on the 300 block of Wayne Avenue at around 10:30pm May 3rd.  Grey allegedly knocked on the door, and when the woman inside did not open the door, Grey reportedly began pounding on the door and tried to open the door repeatedly using the handle.  The resident stated she feared for her life and grabbed a firearm to defend herself.

Then on May 6th, Grey was a patient at the University of Iowa Healthcare Downtown Campus at approximately 12:50pm when she allegedly struck a nurse wearing scrubs and an employee badge in the face. The nurse complained of pain, and had redness and swelling in the area.

Separate warrants were issued for Grey’s arrest, and she was taken into custody Tuesday evening.  She was charged with 2nd degree Attempted Burglary and Assault against Persons in Certain Occupations causing Bodily Injury. If convicted on both counts, Grey could be sentenced to a maximum seven years in prison.
