The former ACT campus will be converted into affordable housing and commercial units.
That’s according to Iceberg Development Group, which has announced its purchase of the 400-acre property.
Iceberg plans to build income-restricted senior housing as part of the project. It also plans to repurpose the already-existing buildings on the site.
The Housing Fellowship, which helps develop homes for those with limited incomes, is helping with the redevelopment. It plans a 44-unit complex called “The Iris” for those age 55 or older who qualify for affordable housing, paid for with $1.3 million in tax credits from the Iowa Finance Authority.
Representatives for the fellowship say they plan to add more affordable housing on the ACT site once The Iris is complete.
