A Des Moines woman was taken into custody Thursday night after allegedly attempting to elude law enforcement.
At approximately 8:33pm, 19-year-old Maria Dorman of 24th ST was being stopped on Highway 218 just north of Melrose Avenue after allegedly being clocked going 115 miles per hour. She reportedly failed to stop for lights and siren and continued to elude an Iowa State trooper by passing in no-passing lanes, maintaining speeds of over 100 miles per hour.
Dorman was eventually stopped, and allegedly told the trooper that she tried to get away from him because she’d never been caught speeding that fast before.
Dorman was charged with Eluding, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term not exceeding five years if convicted.
