The City of Iowa City’s Neighborhood Outreach Program has announced the recipients of the latest round of Program for Improving Neighborhoods, or PIN Grants.
The city’s Neighborhood Outreach Program has helped strengthen Iowa City’s neighborhoods by supporting efforts that enhance quality of life, encourage civic engagement, and bring people together.
The PIN Grant provides direct support to resident-led projects that promote inclusive community-building. The grant funds a wide range of events, programs, and initiatives that help create spaces where neighbors can connect, collaborate, and feel a sense of belonging.
The City Council allocated $20,000 to the PIN Grant program for Fiscal Year 2026, with a maximum grant amount of $3,000 per neighborhood association. Neighborhood associations that have been awarded funding to implement projects that align with the grant program’s mission include Deweyville, The Eastside Neighborhood Association, Galway Hills, The Longfellow Neighborhood Association, the Miller Orchard Neighborhood Association, the Morningside-Glendale Neighborhood Association, the NorthSide Neighborhood Association, the Shimek neighborhood, the South District Neighborhood Association, the Wonderful Westside Neighborhood, and the Wylde-Weeber neighborhood. Activities include culture days, a cookie crawl, food sharing, music events, outdoor movies, and block parties.
