An Iowa Republican who was easily defeated by Chuck Grassley in 2022 is trying again, this time running for Senator Joni Ernst’s seat.
Jim Carlin accused Ernst of reneging on her campaign promise to “make ‘em squeal” and “joined the Swamp” instead.
Carlin served in the Iowa Legislature form 2017 to 2022. He also founded the Iowa Liberty Network, which its website describes as, quote, “ a group maintaining the liberties endowed by our Creator through getting authentic, constitutional conservatives elected to the state legislature and other public offices.”
When he ran against Grassley, Carlin said he was more conservative on immigration and 2nd Amendment issues, and criticized the senator for certifying the 202 election without pushing to investigate false allegations of fraud. Grassley won handily, garnering nearly three-fourths of votes cast.
