A Coralville man previously convicted of domestic abuse was allegedly found with a weapon earlier this month.

On the evening of June 8th, 38-year-old Jesse Forest of Boston Way allegedly ran despite uniformed officers verbally identifying themselves as police. During the pursuit, officers allegedly observed him reaching into his waistband area.

Forest was apprehended and a post-arrest search reportedly turned up an empty gun holster. He then allegedly admitted to tossing a gun during the foot pursuit. A 380 Smith and Wesson handgun with a magazine containing 8 rounds of ammunition was found when police conducted a backtrack search.

Forest has three previous domestic abuse convictions, including two in Johnson County from 2023.

Forest was charged with Interference with Official Acts involving a Firearm and Dominion or Control of an Offensive Weapon by a Domestic Abuser. He could face up to ten years in prison if convicted on both counts.
