Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird says she plans to do a deep dive into adherence to the state’s DEI laws at the University of Iowa.

The Gazette reports Bird made the comments during her annual “Barn Bash” fundraiser at the Dallas County Fairgrounds Saturday night. She said the investigation will, quote, “pull that curtain back and get some sunlight” on the University of Iowa and cautioned that it will take some time to complete.

A video reportedly recorded and aired on Fox News showed a University of Iowa staffer criticizing the new state law and discussing ways they’re working around it.  Governor Kim Reynolds filed a complaint with the AG’s office to investigate the matter.

Bird considered running for governor earlier this year, but announced last month that she’s going to run for reelection as Attorney General.
