A man was arrested last week after allegedly attempting to entice a minor at a Cedar Rapids library.
KCRG TV reports the incident occurred on Saturday, when police responded to the downtown library after receiving a report of a disturbance.
According to a criminal complaint, 42-year-old Quincy Daugherty was seen talking to a minor under the age of 16, telling her he “saves children” and could get her a job. He then grabbed the victim’s hands, and she pulled away. Daugherty allegedly attempted to pray over the child, rubbing her upper arms and proceeding to move his hands to the outside of her breasts.
The girl stepped away from Daugherty and went to her mother, who took a picture of Daugherty and chased him out of the building, tracking him until police could find him.
Police located Daugherty under and around a car nearby, trying to hide from authorities.
Daugherty was taken into custody. He faces charges of assault and attempt to entice a minor under the age of 16. If convicted on both counts, Daugherty faces a jail term of up to 25 months.
