At 9:06 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, the Iowa City Police Department responded to the 300 Block of Prentiss Street for welfare check. Responding officers located the body of a deceased person outdoors at the scene.
ICPD is investigating this incident as an unattended death. The identity of the deceased individual is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. No further information is available at this time.
The Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office and Johnson County Attorney’s Office are assisting in the death investigation.
