An Iowa City man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly violating a no-contact order and injuring an officer who was taking him into custody.
According to police, 24-year-old Daivion Long and the protected party have a no-contact order in effect since last Friday. The order states that Long must not go to, enter, occupy or remain in the residence or any other residence the petitioner is staying. It also granted exclusive possession of the residence at Town and Campus Apartments to the petitioner.
The protected party was at the residence just before 4pm and informed police that Long was on the premises, in violation of the order.
Upon arrival, Long was informed that he was being arrested. He allegedly pulled away from officers, and while being handcuffed cut the hand of one officer.
Long was charged with Interference with Official Acts causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor. He also faces a contempt charge for violating the no-contact order. A hearing is set for October 24th.
