An Iowa City man was taken into custody Saturday night after he was allegedly driving while intoxicated.

22-year-old Ayvin Tatenbach of Apache Trail was observed on Oak Crest Hill Road Saturday evening by Iowa City police actively attempting to drive his vehicle out of a ditch.  Upon contact, he allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of ingested alcohol.

Tatenbach reportedly told the officer that he was willing to go to jail despite not wanting to attempt field sobriety tests. He later stated he wanted to submit to a PBT, which showed his breath-alcohol level over the legal limit.  A Datamaster showed it at .295 percent.

Tatenbach was charged with OWI second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor.
