A Coralville woman has been taken into custody after allegedly stealing liquor from an Iowa City store and fighting with officers who arrested her.

Police say 47-year-old Tosha Aurthur of Boston Way entered Kwik Spirits on South Riverside Drive the afternoon of October 26th and concealed multiple bottles of alcohol on her person. She then reportedly exited the store without paying for the items.

Aurthur has previous theft convictions from Scott County.

A warrant for her arrest was issued November 3rd; on Monday evening, she was contacted at Community and Family Resources on Southgate Avenue and advised of the warrant.  Aurthur allegedly refused to put her hands behind her back and pulled away from officers. She reportedly kept trying to reach in her front pockets, and a subsequent search found her in possession of two glass pipes with burnt residue. In the hallway of the apartment complex, Aurthur allegedly yelled profanities at officers and residents, and repeatedly threatened to physically assault one of the residents.

Aurthur faces a charge of 3rd degree theft for the October incident, and additional charges of Interference with Official Acts, Disorderly Conduct, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  If convicted on all counts, she could be sentenced to up to 27 months in jail.
