The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking public input on an upcoming project along Interstate 380 in Johnson County.

The project includes improvements to I-380 south of, and including, the 120th Street interchange in Swisher and Shueyville.

Changes include:

  • Pavement replacement.
  • Widening from four to six lanes.
  • Increasing paved shoulder widths.
  • Reconfiguration of ramps and interchange access.

During construction two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained on I-380. However, lanes and shoulders will be narrowed and shifted into temporary configurations to facilitate the improvements. Ramps at the 120th Street interchange will close for up to four months during construction, which is is expected to start in the spring of 2030 and end in the fall of 2032.

A public open house to discuss the project is set for next Tuesday, November 18th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Iowa DOT District 6 Field Office, 5455 Kirkwood Blvd SW in Cedar Rapids.
