A drunk driving suspect is accused of speeding down Melrose Avenue in Iowa City at almost double the speed limit during morning traffic.
A Johnson County deputy reports clocking 29-year-old Zachary Shalla of Lone Tree driving 69 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone near Deer Creek Drive just before 7:30 Saturday morning. Shalla allegedly showed signs of intoxication, and his breath alcohol level was measured at .156% and .167%. He’s now charged with Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense and Speeding.
