A Shueyville traffic stop reportedly turned up drugs and bullets in the possession of a convicted felon.

Arrest reports indicate a Johnson County deputy pulled over a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee outside the BP convenience store on 120th Street just before 12:30 Monday morning for an equipment violation. A K9 alerted on the vehicle, and 30-year-old Austin Hedgecoth of West Branch was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine, a THC vape pen, a marijuana roach, a straw with a white substance in it, a marijuana grinder, and multiple bullets.

Hedgecoth has previous drug convictions out of Linn and Muscatine Counties, and a felony conviction out of Cedar County. He was arrested and charged with Dominion or Control of an Offensive Weapon as a Felon, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd or Subsequent Offense, and  Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of over 11 years in prison.
