An Oxford man was charged with contempt after allegedly contacting the subject of a no-contact order while still incarcerated.
Police say 22-year-old Cameron Neuzil of James Avenue SW was reported by the victim on November 1st to the Washington County Jail. Because Neuzil lived outside of their jurisdiction, they contacted the Iowa City Police Department to report the incident.
The Washington County Jail provided Iowa City Police with a copy of Neuzil’s alleged conversation with the victim, noting that he used a cellular device that belonged to the jail to reach the victim.
Neuzil allegedly violated the no-contact order again on November 17th, using a Washington County Jail cellphone to complete a video call with the woman.
The no-contact order was issued October 10th after Neuzil allegedly kidnapped the woman at knifepoint and sexually assaulted her in separate incidents. He faces a handful of charges from those incidents that could get him sentenced to up to 89 years in prison if convicted. A jury trial is scheduled for April 7th.
