An Iowa City woman known by neighborhood merchants and police for shoplifting has been arrested again on trespass charges.
32-year-old Porscha Curry of the Town and Campus Apartments on Arthur Street had been trespassed from the HyVee on First Avenue and the Maverik convenience store on Muscatine Avenue multiple times, but was observed in the parking lot of Maverik at 11:18 am Sunday. She reportedly is known on sight to employees due to numerous previous incidents, and the officer who responded to the call personally trespassed her from the property this past November.
Staff allegedly saw Curry begging for money in the parking lot. The officer arrived to find Curry had fled the scene. She was located less than two hours later in the parking lot of the HyVee on First Avenue, where she had also been trespassed from multiple times. Staff there reportedly wanted to pursue charges, and had been trespassed from HyVee as recently as January 16th.
Curry was arrested and two bottles of Duloxetine totaling approximately 120 capsules were allegedly found among her personal property. They were not prescribed to her.
Curry was charged with two counts of Trespass 3rd or subsequent offense and unlawful possession of a prescription drug. She faces up to a year in jail on the drug charge if convicted.
