An Iowa City woman is accused of driving to the workplace of a person she had allegedly targeted for online harassment and pulling a gun on him.
21-year-old Shantoria Cooper of Triple Crown Lane was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 7:15 Thursday night. Iowa City Police say at about 7:30 on the night of January 22nd Cooper drove to the 1st Avenue Wendy’s and pointed a firearm at one of the employees. An investigation determined that Cooper had previously been publicly defaming the man on social media and having others do so as well. At one point, Cooper allegedly asked the man if he wanted to die.
Cooper is charged with Assault While Displaying a Weapon and 1st Degree Harassment. If convicted on both counts, she faces a maximum of four years in jail.
Due to the arrest, Cooper’s pretrial release has been revoked in a pair of pending assault and drug investigations.
