Residents at the Lake Ridge Manufactured home park have called a press conference for Wednesday to call attention to the fact that their homes are experiencing a range of structural damage due to widespread ground erosion.

According to a release from the Iowa Manufactured Homes Residents Network, issues range from burst pipes to skewed doors and window frames. Residents on Wednesday will share findings from weeks of investigation and community meetings which have identified dozens of residents whose homes are sinking into the ground.

They say Havenpark Capital, which has owned Lake Ridge since 2021, have failed to address urgently needed infrastructure repairs and refused to take responsibility for damage to their homes caused by unstable lot spaces.

Johnson County Residents United is calling on Havenpark to rescind lot increases and commit to a moratorium on future increases until basic maintenance is done to ensure safe lots and clean water. They also ask Havenpark to provide access to the park necessary for a qualified, certified engineer selected by JCRU to conduct a thorough independent study of lot conditions and recommend steps to stabilize the homes.

The group wants a copy of all engineering assessments, a list of planned improvements, and for Havenpark to meet with Johnson County Residents United to determine a timeline for stabilizing lot spaces and providing necessary repairs or reimburse residents for their costs associated with the ground erosion of their lots.

The press conference will take place at 10:30am Wednesday at Lake Ridge Estates.
