A Coralville man was arrested Monday night after an alleged assault on his domestic partner.
According to the police report, 54-year-old John Butler of Quarry Lane got into a verbal argument with his girlfriend at the residence. The argument allegedly turned physical and led to Butler punching the woman in the forehead, causing a lump.
The couple have co-habitated within the past year and are in an intimate relationship. A check of Butler’s criminal record showed a previous domestic abuse conviction out of Texas.
Butler was arrested and charged with 2nd offense Domestic Assault, and faces up to two years in jail if convicted. A no-contact order was requested between the couple.
