The driver in a head-on collision on Interstate 380 in North Liberty that injured one person has been given a two-day jail sentence.

That’s according to online records, which show Judge Deborah Minot handed that sentence down to 29-year-old Austin Vosdingh of Cedar Rapids earlier this week. The sentence was technically 60 days, with all but 58 suspended.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s office says Vosdingh was driving his 2013 BMW 135i northbound in the southbound lanes near the Penn Street exit at 1:30 on the morning of September 20th, 2025 when he hit another vehicle head-on, breaking a bone of a victim.

Johnson County deputies say Vosdingh showed signs of intoxication, was wearing a bar wristband, and refused breath testing.

Vosdingh was arrested and charged with Serious Injury By Vehicle, Operating While Intoxicated, Driving on the Wrong Side of a Two-Way Highway, and Reckless Driving. If convicted on all counts, he would have faced a maximum of six years in prison.

As part of a plea deal Vosdingh pleaded guilty to a 1st Offense OWI charge. Along with the two-day jail sentence, he was also fined $1,250 and given one year of probation.
