A Chicagoland man was arrested early Sunday in Iowa City after an incident in the downtown area.

According to court documents, 21-year-old John Giovenco of Palatine was observed at approximately 1:15am, allegedly yelling at other patrons and getting in their faces in front of the Summit bar on Clinton Street.

Police say Giovenco was uncooperative with them, and had bloodshot watery eyes, unsteady balance, and the odor of ingested alcohol.

When asked to provide ID, Giovenco provided a fictitious Illinois driver’s license, despite the fact that he turned 21 that night.

He was charged with public intoxication and possession of a fictitious ID. Giovenco faces up to 13 months in jail if convicted on the charges.
