An Iowa City man is in custody after being accused of sexually assaulting a child.
According to court documents, during a forensic interview with the victim, she stated that 25-year-old Fernando Gomez Zelaya of Lake Side Drive engaged with sexual acts with her for approximately two months in 2019.
A warrant was issued April 9th, and Gomez Zelaya was arrested Wednesday morning. He’s been charged with 2nd degree Sexual Abuse of a child under the age of 12 and could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison if convicted. .
