A Coralville man was taken into custody after he was reportedly found possessing meth and marijuana.
Police were called to an apartment building on the 1800 block of South Gilbert Street for a report of a man sleeping in the hallway. Upon arrival, they came upon 39-year-old Darnell Muldrow of 5th Street, and he reportedly grabbed a glass pipe containing burnt residue and tried to hide it from officers.
Muldrow was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia, and a search incident to arrest allegedly found a bag containing suspected marijuana in his sweatshirt pocket, as well as two baggies containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be meth.
Muldrow identified the substances as marijuana and methamphetamine.
A check of his criminal record showed three previous convictions for controlled substance possession. Muldrow was charged with two controlled substance violations and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to over seven years in prison.
