A Waterloo man has been arrested after an alleged sexual assault in Iowa City.
Police say the incident occurred on the 300 block of North Clinton Street in the overnight hours of December 12th last year. According to the criminal complaint, 21-year-old Noah Putz of Kingsley Avenue reportedly engaged in penetrative sex against the victim’s will. The victim allegedly verbalized her lack of consent, but Putz reportedly removed his pants with intent to have sex with her.
The victim then fled her residence to avoid the continued assault.
Putz allegedly sent messages to the victim after the incident containing statements admitting to the acts and intent.
A warrant was issued Wednesday, and Putz was taken into custody Thursday evening, He’s been charged with 3rd degree Sexual Abuse and could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison if convicted.
A no-contact order was requested between the parties.
