An Iowa City man caught trespassing had a warrant for his arrest, and was found with marijuana on his person.
Monday afternoon at approximately 2:20, 53-year-old Bradley McDannald of Willow Street was reportedly trespassing in the woods behind the HyVee store on 1st Avenue. Police say there were No Trespassing signs posted all over the exterior of the woods. It was learned that McDannald had an outstanding warrant and was placed under arrest.
A post-arrest search revealed he possessed marijuana and a smoking device for the drug.
McDannald was charged with 2nd offense marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted on both counts, he faces a maximum 13 month jail sentence.
McDannald was wanted on two controlled substance violations. He was released on his own recognizance pending arraignment.
