We continue to pay more at the pump.

The recent Gas Buddy survey of over 2000 gas stations across the state shows the average price of a gallon in Iowa is up to $4.31, which is over 73 cents higher than it was a month ago.

It’s also $1.37 higher per gallon than a year ago.

Nationally, the price has fallen a one cent to $4.47 per gallon. Still, it’s over 45 cents higher than it was a month ago and $1.33 more than a year ago.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at Gas Buddy, said prices began to fall at the beginnig of the week but were erased after President Trump’s meeting with his Chinese counterpart failed to produce a breakthrough on Iran, and renewed threats toward Tehran pushed prices higher again.

De Haan said with the Memorial Day weekend approaching, sustained increase in oil prices could push prices at the pump higher in the weeks ahead.
