Allegedly using a fraudulent prescription in an attempt to obtain medicine has led to a Coralville man’s arrest.
A pharmacist at Walgreens on the Coralville Strip called police on Tuesday saying a subject had phoned in a prescription for amoxicillin, banophen and promethazine with codeine. The caller gave a patient’s name, a doctor’s name and the doctor’s controlled substance license number. When the pharmacist contacted the doctor, the doctor denied issuing the prescription.
23-year-old Kyle Green of the Iowa Lodge apartments arrived at Walgreen’s just before 3:30pm to pick up the prescription. He said he’d received a text from an unknown subject telling him to pick up a prescription for codeine. Green’s cellphone number matched the number used to call the prescription in to the pharmacy.
Green is charged with Prohibited Acts – Schedule IV or V Controlled Substance. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in prison.
