ICPD investigating suspicious death of UIHC employee

A woman found dead under what police call “suspicious” circumstances has been identified as an employee of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

According to an email sent to UIHC employees, the woman was 65-year-old JoEllen Browning, the UI Health Care Director for Operating Budgets

According to a news release, emergency responders were dispatched to Browning’s Green Mountain Drive residence just before 7am Friday for a report of an unresponsive female. Upon arrival, Browning was found inside the residence.

Police are treating the matter as a suspicious death, which is now under investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations, the ICPD, the Johnson County Attorney’s Office and the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
