A former employee is accused of stealing money and booze from a Coralville business.

Coralville Police say security footage shows 50-year-old Kent Thompson of the Town and Campus Apartments in Iowa City breaking into Fuzzy’s Tacos on 9th Street. Investigators say Thompson can be seen entering the restaurant at 2:30am on December 29th, then attempting to break into the register drawer with a knife and a kitchen tool.

Thompson allegedly took tip money out of the office and began to leave, then went back and also took bottles of Crown Royal whiskey and Patron tequila.

Thompson was an employee of Fuzzy’s Tacos at the time of the break-in, and he was positively identified by the restaurant’s general manager.

Thompson was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 12:30 Tuesday afternoon and charged with 3rd Degree Burglary. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
