A Denver Iowa man was taken into custody after allegedly running up a host of charges Monday morning.

According to arrest reports, officers were dispatched to the Iowa City Rehab and Health Care Facility after reports of a suspicious unknown male who entered a resident’s room and used the person’s hairbrush to brush his hair. Upon arrival, they came upon the suspect, 17 year-old Jacob Oesterle, in the foyer of the building.

The officer asked Oesterle if he had any weapons on him, and Oesterle produced an unsheathed dagger-style knife from his pants pocket and handed to the officer, then quickly walked away. The officer followed Oesterle for approximately two blocks, and observed him taking a bicycle leaning against a home.

After riding it a short distance, he turned around and rode it into the open garage at the address and began examining the contents of the garage. The officer then arrested Oesterle and discovered an open bottle of brandy in his backpack. During the arrest, an employee from a nearby Dairy Queen approached and alleged that Oesterle had been in the restaurant earlier and was making sexual advances toward an employee. A post arrest PBT showed a blood alcohol content of .118

Police got a call from the homeowner later, alleging they found a glass pipe on the ground where the bicycle had been parked.

Oesterle has been charged with 3rd degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication, 1st degree trespass, possession of drug paraphernalia, and an open container violation. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to over six years in prison.
