Coralville Police have arrested a second Cedar Rapids man in an armed robbery of a taxicab driver two years ago.

29-year-old Landon Snerling of 18th Street Southwest was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 11:15 Thursday morning. Arrest records indicate Snerling and two co-defendants worked together to rob a cab driver as part of a team effort around 12:30am on October 12th, 2017.

One of the co-defendants, identified as 27-year-old Michael Alexander Hobbs of Cedar Rapids, was allegedly dropped off by the cab on the 900 block of Quarry Road. That’s when Snerling allegedly walked up, pointed a handgun at the driver and demanded the driver’s money.

Snerling has a prior felony conviction out of Cook County, Illinois. He’s charged with 1st Degree Robbery and Dominion or Control of a Firearm By a Felon. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of 30 years in prison.

Hobbs faced similar charges in 2017, but court records show he reached a plea deal and was given a ten-year prison sentence on a 2nd Degree Robbery charge.
