Chasing her ex-boyfriend around a convenience store parking lot with a kitchen knife and slashing his tires has led to an Iowa City woman’s arrest.

Iowa City Police were called to Kum & Go on Muscatine Avenue just before 7:30 Tuesday morning for a woman chasing a man with a knife and slashing the tires of his car.

Video surveillance allegedly shows 24-year-old Pamela Simpson of the nearby Eden Apartments chasing her ex-boyfriend through the Kum & Go parking lot with a kitchen knife, then catching up to his car as he attempted to drive away and stabbing both passenger side tires. Damage to the tires is estimated at $400.

Simpson and her ex then began wrestling for possession of the knife, and he was able to take it away just before police arrived.

An investigation determined that Simpson was angry because her ex agreed to pick her up from work and he never showed up.

Simpson is charged with Carrying Weapons and 4th Degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of three years in prison.

Judge Jason Burns issued a no-contact warning between Simpson and her ex and ordered her to keep in contact with Johnson County’s jail alternatives program.
