An Iowa City man was arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot a victim with a rifle.

Police say 20-year-old Travis Schuchert of Schuchert Drive went to the victim’s East Burlington Street residence to exchange property.  During the interaction, Schuchert allegedly became upset with the victim, and removed a .223 rifle from his truck, pointing it at the victim.

Schuchert then reportedly told the victim to get in the truck with him or he was going to shoot them.

Upon police arrival, Schuchert allegedly admitted to handling the firearm during the interaction; he also had a live bullet for the rifle in his pocket.

Schuchert was charged with 1st degree Harassment and Assault while displaying a Dangerous Weapon. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to four years in jail.
