US Representative Ashley Hinson held a public town hall Thursday in Mason City, featuring constituents booing, heckling and shouting at her as she defended President Donald Trump’s administration.
During the forum, held at North Iowa Community College, Hinson discussed her support for Trump policies including border security, tax cuts, and deregulation. She also talked about bipartisan efforts to improve government efficiency and support for veterans.
Hinson faced backlash from the crowd on cutting federal spending on necessary services, slashing the federal workforce, the way migrants are deported and the Trump administration’s defiance of court orders.
The majority of the crowd urged the congresswoman to do her job and take back Congress’ legislative power to reign Trump in.
Hinson said that Republicans are executing exactly what they and President Trump campaigned on.
