Run for the Schools is Sunday; towing begins Saturday

Run for the Schools, a run benefiting students from the Iowa City Community School District and Regina Catholic Education Center, will take place Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025.

Several roads will close for the half-mile, mile, 5K, and 10K races. Road closures will begin at 4 a.m. and all roads are anticipated to reopen by noon. “No Parking” signs will be posted along the route and vehicles not moved before 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, will be towed.

The longer runs begin at 9 a.m., with the course beginning at the intersection of East Washington and Gilbert streets, near the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, 220 S. Gilbert St. Shorter races begin at 8 a.m. “No Parking” signs will be enforced from Gilbert Street to Muscatine Avenue on College Street.

If your vehicle is towed, visit the Iowa City Police Department, 410 E. Washington St., with a photo ID and payment for any parking fines or fees. Bring your vehicle description and plate number if possible. Credit cards are accepted. Towing fees must be paid directly to Holiday Wrecker and Crane after the vehicle is released by police.
