An Iowa City woman was arrested on an arrest warrant this week.
According to court documents, 29-year-old Rushia Walker of Broadway Street got into an argument with the victim the afternoon of January 26th. When police arrived, Walker allegedly told them that she got frustrated with the victim and hit him in the head with a metal rod, causing swelling.
The couple had been in an intimate relationship for the last two years and had lived together for about six months before the incident.
A warrant was issued on February 9th; Walker was served this week. She is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail if convicted.
On Thursday, Walker was released on her own recognizance pending arraignment. A no-contact order was issued by Judge Jason Burns. .
