Two people shot at CR business; suspect still at large

Cedar Rapids police are combing the area near a business where a suspect reportedly entered and shot two people.
The incident occurred just after 5am at Associated Materials on Beverly Road Southwest. Reports indicate that an known individual went into the business, wounded two people and fled.
The two victims sustained what appear to be non life-threatening gunshot wounds. Police say the alleged shooting doesn’t appear to be random and is being treated as a workplace violence incident.
The Cedar Rapids Police Department has identified the suspect as 26-year-old Jamal Devonte Edwards. He’s described as a black male, 5 feet and 8 inches in height, 140 pounds, and may have long dreads, police said in a press release. In addition, he has tattoos on his neck and chin, as well as his right arm.
Edwards is still at large and should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. Anyone who sees him should call 911. The public is being advised to avoid the area of the shooting while they search for Edwards.
