A Coralville man is facing a number of felonies after allegedly selling drugs to a minor over the weekend.
According to police, an officer arrived on the 900 block of Boston Way Sunday at around 7pm on an unrelated matter. He parked behind a silver Camaro, and observed a juvenile open the passenger door of the vehicle holding a clear plastic baggie containing marijuana and a $20 bill.
Once the officer instructed the juvenile to sit back in the vehicle, he made contact with the driver, 30-year-old Terry Christian of 10th Street Court. Having detected the strong odor of marijuana, a subsequent search allegedly turned up a baggie of marijuana on the floor of the passenger seat, several larger bags of marijuana, six dosage units of what was believed to be MDMA in a plastic baggie, and two blunts dipped in an unknown liquid, sealed in individual glass tubes. The total weight of the discovered marijuana was 198 grams, and there was 2 grams of MDMA in the vehicle.
The juvenile reportedly admitted to purchasing the marijuana from Christian.
Christian was arrested and charged with Drug Distribution to a Minor under 18, Failure to Affix a Tax Stamp, and Class C and D Controlled Substance Violations. If convicted on all counts, Christian could be sentenced to a maximum of 45 years in prison.
