A Cedar Rapids woman was taken into custody Wednesday after nearly hitting a pedestrian and threatening to burn their house down.
The incident occurred at Cole’s Mobile Home Park on South Riverside Drive at about 10:45pm. 32-year-old Stephanie Johnson was allegedly observed driving her Ram pickup through the grass, almost hitting a pedestrian. She then is accused of driving into the person’s parked vehicle and speeding off.
Johnson reportedly drove around the block to the victim’s friend’s house, yelled that she would burn the victim’s house down, and sped off.
She was later located in North Liberty, driving the same truck. Her vehicle had paint transfer from the victim’s vehicle and corresponding damage. Johnson denied committing the act, but was willing to provide insurance information.
She was taken into custody and charged with second degree Criminal Mischief, a Class D Felony. If convicted, Johnson could be sentenced to up to five years in prison.
