Resident and nonresident students attending the University of Iowa, Iowa State, and the University of Northern Iowa will not see a tuition increase for the spring semester.

The announcement was made by Regent president Mike Richards on Wednesday, and covers all regent institutions.

The action puts on pause the five-year tuition increase plan agreed on in June of 2019. That plan included 3 to 5 percent increases each year at the University of Iowa and Iowa State.

The regents said the increases would begin again with the 2021-22 academic year.
