An Ames man was arrested early Sunday after an alleged drunken false 911 call.
According to the police report, 20-year-old Nicklas Massani called the emergency number at around 3am to report a potential hostage situation. When located near the intersection of Linn and Court Streets, he said he didn’t recall calling 911. He also stated he didn’t know why dispatch had his name and number, but later reportedly admitted to calling the number.
Massani allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of ingested alcohol. A search of his person reportedly found two fictitious IDs.
Massani was charged with making a false 911 call, obstruction of emergency communications, public intoxication, and possession of a fictitious ID. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 15 months in jail.
