A Cedar Rapids man has been arrested by Iowa City Police after a reported dispute over the use of a shared bathroom.
50-year-old Luke Furnish of Jacolyn Drive SW was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 8:15 Sunday night. Arrest records indicate Furnish was in the downstairs kitchen at an address on South Lucas Street just before 6:45 Sunday night when another person walked by to use the nearby bathroom. Furnish allegedly accused the man of stealing toilet paper, and told him he should use the upstairs bathroom and stay out of the lower level entirely.
The alleged victim claims Furnish grabbed him and pushed him against a wall while telling him to stay upstairs. The man also told police he feared Furnish might use a knife that he had been using to prepare food.
Furnish is charged with Simple Assault. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 30 days in jail.
