Assault charges filed against North Liberty man

A North Liberty man faces possible jail time after an alleged assault at his Golfview Court residence.

According to the criminal complaint, officers were dispatched to the home 44–year-old Jason Albaugh at 1am Wednesday on reports of a domestic assault. Upon arrival, the victim stated that a verbal argument began around 8 that evening after Albaugh went through their phone. The physical altercation allegedly began later, and Albaugh reportedly grabbed the victim’s arm and kicked them.

Police observed a large bruise on the victim’s left arm and a scratch on the left ankle.

The assault was reportedly observed by a witness, who told officers that he saw Albaugh holding the victim in a headlock in the kitchen.

Albaugh was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail if convicted.
