A Coralville man was taken into custody on warrants stemming from two Iowa City thefts.

The first incident occurred December 20th last year at a convenience store on 1st Avenue. 55-year-old Shay Henderson of 10th Street Place allegedly stole over $80 in merchandise with making attempt to pay for the items.

The second allegedly occurred at the Waterfront HyVee the evening of March 25th. In that case, Henderson reportedly took two bottles of tequila valued at over 100 dollars and put them in his backpack. He again left the store without attempting to pay for the liquor.

A check of Henderson’s criminal record showed multiple theft convictions.

He was charged with two counts of 3rd degree Theft and could be sentenced to four years in prison if convicted on both charges.
